A gene pool can change an 5 different ways. These ways include, natural selection, mutations, genetic drift gene flow and non random mating. Natural selection is caused by selective pressures and only the fittest will survive and reproduce. Mutations are caused by a change in the DNA and is usually a copying error. Genetic drift is the loss of part of a population do to a random event such as a fire, it has larger effects on smaller populations. Gene flow is the transfer of genes from one population to another. Non random mating occurs in animals such as peacocks and sea lions. some choose those similar to them and some choose the most colorful or largest mate.
