How do out bodies combat all these viruses and bacteria? well there our multiple ways and I will go into detail on the 3 most common. Phagocytosis is the process in which phagocytes consume the virus by grabbing them and pulling them into themselves they then destroy the bacteria and viruses with enzymes in there lysosomes. The second way is our immune system response. Our immune system can use an interferon response. This occurs when a protein created by an infected host cell signals other cells before it dies. this activates immune cells to attack and kill the virus. The third way is another immune response. Our immune system can also release antibodies. These are highly specific proteins that are made by white blood cells. These proteins attach themselves to a virus and clump together to deactivating the virus making them easy to be destroyed by white blood cells. Despite our bodies defences one of the best way to defend against disease is to wash hands regularly and avoid touching your face after being in contact with others.
